- Sound Transit has started checking fares on the downtown Seattle platforms.
Beginning June 3rd, Sound Transit Fare Ambassadors have started checking fares within the “fare paid zones,” in certain Seattle stations.
Affected stops:
Beacon Hill
International District
Pioneer Square
University Street
Westlake
University District - New Variable Messaging Signs will be installed at University Street Station beginning on Monday, May 13.
New signs will help better communicate service information to passengers. Information displayed on signs at the stations may not be viewable during installation and testing.
University Street Station scheduled installation: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., 5/13 until 7/12.
There should be minimal impact on how a passenger navigates through the station platform and entry to the station.

Several parking stalls at Northgate Station Garage are closed off until further notice due to water intrusion issues. These stalls will be closed off until water intrusion issues are resolved to minimize vehicle damage. - University Street North Mezzanine elevators to Benaroya Hall lobby reduced service hours in 2024
The University Street elevators serving the north mezzanine to the Benaroya Hall lobby, near Exit A2, will have reduced hours for public use beginning Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The elevators will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, except holidays.
On certain weekends and evenings, the Benaroya Hall Boeing Gallery will offer access to University Street Station from 2.5 hours prior to any public event through its conclusion. See the Seattle Symphony’s calendar of Benaroya Hall events for dates and times of public events.
The elevators will be in service at the specified times. Please use alternate elevators when these elevators are not in service. - Int'l Dist/Chinatown Station announcement: The elevator at Exit A serving the street (5th Ave S & S Jackson St) and Northgate platform is out of service until further notice due to scheduled maintenance.
Until maintenance on Elevator 901 concludes, all passengers requiring elevator service will need to use Elevator 903 located on the south end of the platform near entrance B.
To ride the 1 Line to Northgate:
1. Continue on 5th Ave S toward S King St.
2. Take the elevator down to the Northgate platform.
To exit the station:
1. Go to the opposite end of the platform toward Exit B.
2. Take the elevator up to the street. - Late night rider information from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Northgate Station.
For service to Northgate via downtown Seattle, from Seattle -Tacoma International Airport:
On weekdays and Saturday, the last train to Northgate Station with service through downtown Seattle departs SeaTac/Airport Station at about 11:58 p.m. All remaining trains will terminate at Beacon Hill Station.
On Sunday’s, the last train to Northgate Station with service through downtown Seattle departs SeaTac/Airport Station at about 11:13 p.m. All remaining trains will terminate at Beacon Hill Station.
Passengers are recommended to exit at Mount Baker Station and use the following King County Metro Routes to travel towards Northgate Station:
• Passengers requiring service to downtown Seattle, please take King County Metro Route 7.
• Passengers requiring service to Capitol Hill Station, please take King County Metro Route 7 to 3rd Avenue and Pike Street, then transfer to King County Metro Route 49 at Pike Street and 4th Avenue.
• Passengers requiring service to University of - The University Street Station entrance at 2nd Avenue (Exit B) may experience intermittent closures to allow for new messaging sign installation from June 25 to July 3.
Maintenance work occurring at the entrance will not impact the elevator.
Please use the alternate entrances located on 3rd and University Street (Exit A1) or 3rd and Seneca Street (Exit C) when the entrance at 2nd Ave (Exit B) is closed.
Affected lines: 1 Line - Northgate Garage elevators will be temporarily out of service for scheduled maintenance from February 5 to July 1.
The Northgate Garage elevators will be temporarily out of service for scheduled maintenance from Monday, February 5 to Monday, July 1. Each elevator will be out of service for up to 5 hours each day, at different times from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to resolve a water issue.
Please use the alternate elevator when the other is out of service and plan for extra time to navigate the garage.
Please contact a security officer at 206-398-5268 if assistance is needed while at the garage. - The elevator at Pioneer Square James Street (Exit A) elevator unavailable until further notice due to maintenance.
The North Mezzanine is inaccessible to passengers requiring elevator service.
To ride the 1 Line to Northgate:
1. Exit the station and continue on 3rd Ave toward James St.
2. Enter the station using the elevator at 3rd Ave & Yesler Way.
3. Take the elevator at the South Mezzanine down to the Angle Lake platform.
4. Go to the opposite end of the platform toward Exit A.
5. Take the elevator up to the North Mezzanine.
6. Cross the North Mezzanine.
7. Take the elevator down to the Northgate platform.
To ride the 1 Line to Angle Lake:
1. Exit the station and continue on 3rd Ave toward James St.
2. Enter the station using the elevator at 3rd Ave & Yesler Way.
3. Take the elevator at the South Mezzanine down to the Angle Lake platform
To exit the station:
1. Go to the opposite end of the platform toward Exit A.
2. Take the elevator up to the South Mezzanine.
3. Cross the South Mezzanine.
4. Take the elevator down to the Angle Lake platform.
